Imagine being born into a world of royalty, wealth, war, and
greed. Some parts of that sentence might sound like a dream to you, but
sometimes it just takes a little bit of corrupt motivation to destroy a person.
Luckily for Alexander over here, he was able to cover up his actions with lies,
battle and unpassionate actions. Pretty great am I right?
But what makes a person great? Maybe in 356 BCE all that was
needed was power, but now, I know for a fact that in the year 2019 the
standards must have been lifted. Power might just be an extra push you need to
the right direction, but we all know that especially now, hardly anybody can
use it wisely, But now, I hope others can see it differently. Compassion, and
knowing the consequences of your actions

are just a few things that can really build up
somebody to becoming as great as dear old Alexander over here. But
the thing is, was Alexander of Macedonia even that great at all?
Nope! I mean it depends on the person really. If you value power
hungry, selfish rulers then Alexander might just be the perfect role model for
you. But on the other hand, if you’re looking for somebody who actually
contributes good to the world without harming others, then welcome abroad, you
made the right choice! Alexander was never really appointed the name of being
“great” he himself did. According to Lifescience.com, Alexander actually
believed that he was a “...divine birth”. Sometimes all it takes is a little
ego push to truly believe one could conquer anything in the world. Thought
confidence is a great aspect to have, Alexander might have taken it too far.
Here’s an example. What would you think of a person when they
contained these certain aspects in their personality?
- Eager
for war, and to help lead attacks.
- Greedy
for Power
Not the best qualities in a person, right? Now don’t get me wrong,
Alexander isn’t exactly pure evil or anything like that. But still, to record
him down in history as great seems like a huge over exaggeration.
