How great was alexander the great? [Michael]

We’ve all heard of that famous guy called Alexander the great. Well what we know about him is a mix of fact and legend1. At the age of 30 he conquered 2,000,000 square miles of land. This stretched out from Macedonia, to Egypt, all the way to the border of India. Not only did he conquer so much land, but he also spread Greek ideas and beliefs. And more than once he led the battles himself.

According to “the legend of the helmet” by Lucius Flavius Arrianus,  Alexander the great and his army were walking through the desert and one of his soldiers found a small pond. The soldier scooped up the water in Alexander’s helmet and gave it to him. Alexander then DUMPED THE WATER ON THE GROUND to show his soldiers that they are equal.

Even when he conquered this much land he still cared about the people that lived there and all of their different cultures. As you can see, Alexander the great can be described as
-courageous
-a leader
-intelligent
-creative
-disciplined
He also had remarkable achievement. I mean at 30 years of age he conquered 2,000,000 square miles of land. Alexander the great was not great, he was amazing.
