‘True’ Greatness? [Adrian]

There is a question arising from the depths of our conscious. How great was he? I wrote this blog to put that to a rest. Alexander was great, he was spectacular, and he was amazing. Come on, the guy conquered 2,000,000 square miles of land.1 That’s more than half of America! All by himself! But that’s not all, he accomplished feats that even Sparta and Athens couldn’t achieve together.
He conquered the Persian empire, the most powerful  empire at the time.2

You’ve got to admit, this guy is a boss.
Historians have compiled many facts for you and me to analyze.
He conquered a city that thought to be unconquerable,
a walled city on an island by the name of Tyre.3
He basically sunk the ancient titanic. And when he got to India, a feat that even the roman empire couldn’t accomplish, he fought elephants!4 Elephants! I don’t think that many people have done that. And not only was Alexander strong and sharp minded, he also had the heart of a soldier. This characteristic was pictured perfectly by ‘The Legend of the Helmet’ by Lucius Flavius Arrianus.

“Alexander, like everyone else, was tormented by thirst, but he was nonetheless marching on foot at the head of his men… So extraordinary was the effect of this action the the water wasted by
Alexander was a good as a drink for every man in the army.”

So now you see how great he is. There is little need for argument against facts. All jokes aside, Alexander the great was and always will be, great.
