In modern times, we refer
to 10-50 people dying a massacre. We also call their killers, evil
murderers. It turns out though, that if, and only if you kill 100,000
people, you will become an idol for those who strive for greatness.
The opinion of greatness is
different for different people. Most great people have the
characteristics of:
- Forgiveness
- Leadership
- Courage
- Humility
- Concern
for others
- Concern
for others
- Concern
for others
I put “concern for others”
many times because, in my opinion, people become great by doing something for
people and making their lives better.
Alexander’s father had
Macedonia and Greece under his control before Alexander was born.
Alexander wanted to expand his empire, so he turned his eyes to Persia.
Alexander went on this
expedition and conquered 2,000,000 square miles and kill 100,000 people1.
He would of conquered further into India and killed more
people but his army forced him to turn back. This is so terrible
because you’re supposed to be helping people not kill and rule over them.
He likes to kill and harm people.
So much for “concern for others”!
While Alexander was going
on his journey to conquer every piece of land he could see, he came across the
island of Tyre. They stopped Alexander for 7 months until he inevitably
got through. What do you think he did?
a.
He forgave everyone
b.
He killed 7,000 Tyrians 2
c.
30,000 survivors were sold into slavery 2
d.
2,000 men of military age were crucified 2
e.
Option b,c, and d
Being able to forgive is a
mark of true greatness. People have forgiven those who have killed their
families. So if you’re so great, why can’t you forgive those that don’t
want to be conquered by you?
No one likes arrogant
people. No one. Alexander was
arrogant. He encouraged the Egyptians to call him G-d. Then he
required the Greeks to call him the son of Zeus 3.
This started when Alexander was young when he was taught by Aristotle who
encouraged that he himself was a G-d. Being humble means that no matter
how great you are you think of yourself normally. Another he missed out on.
Being bloodthirsty,
arrogant, and not being able to forgive will lead you to the opposite of
greatness. Please, stop believing the legends and myths and look at the facts. Alexander is NOT GREAT.
